So Mitt Romney won Illinois by a rather large margin (looking at about 14% lead there), taking 41 delegates of the 53 there. The official count is now 563 for Romney. He’s only 37 delegates away from the magical 600 (I consider this this the downhill ride to 1144). Rick Santorum is 300 votes behind.
Well, unless you are Rick Santorum. Then you suffer from the typical Republican delusions of grandeur. Apparently, now he thinks he’s Ronald Reagan, and that the real delegate count is not really showing his mythical 299 delegates that puts him right behind Romney.
Ron Paul should give up, since he’s so far behind that Romney is lapping him for the second time. He should try to combine his forces with Newt Gingrich. Together, they might make a viable third candidate (two half-brains is better than one whole GOP brain apparently). Maybe they can start their Kick Rick Santorum in the Balls Repeatedly campaign. That’s what they are essentially doing – stealing enough votes from Santorum to cause him to lose by significant margins in larger states. I would fully endorse Newt Paul for the candidacy.
