Let’s start off by saying that I love Goog+.
On that same note, one of my friends on Google + posted an image of the old Obama Hope campaign posters doctored to say, “HOPE You Don’t Get Indefinitely Detained.” Which is from the present news that Obama signed the NDAA bill. Which I agreed was a terrible bill, but that classic Catch 22 situation that all Presidents get caught in. Granted, Obama didn’t have to sign it, but the alternative is equally bad (just not worse).
Somehow, Ron Paul was brought into the discourse. This weirdo – kevin Johnson – said to another commentor that Ron Paul is a true isolationist and all our woes would be fixed if we just elect him.
1. He’s not a “true” isolationist. He has isolationist beliefs, and leans strongly towards being isolationist, but he’s not true in the sense of the word. He hates the UN but believes in NATO. He hates giving other nations aid to bribe them into staying neutral, but believes in sending aid to devestated nations to engender good faith. He doesn’t believe in maintaining troops in several places overseas, but he doesn’t have a problem maintaining strong alliances with other countries we have bases in. He believes in reducing the military budget, but says that national security is just as important as the economy (so he’ll support upgrading the military and keeping it pretty big).
2. He’s voted against war in Iraq. But advocated war in Iran. Hmmm.
Either way, if Paul wins the GOP primary, I’ll have to vote for Obama. Because I don’t want him to win the general election and destroy the economy with his insanity.
NOTE: I just had to say something about it, because I kept correcting the guy in Goog+ and he kept going nuts and back-pedaling. It was the best entertainment I’ve had all day, to be honest. I like watching people squirm when they realize their trolling for a candidate is just regurgitating the campaign notes without thinking about how wrong they might be.
