Former First Lady Betty Ford died on Friday. While some people giving speeches will talk about how she helped a million people beat addiction and breast cancer, there’s a few she asked to talk about politics. One thing I like about Betty Ford is that she was always the optimist. She asked them to talk about a time when Democrats and Republicans actually worked together for the country’s improvement. Unlike today, where – and I quote her – neither party stands for any core values, only personal agendas. She was particularly verbal about how the GOP strayed from being a finely-tuned, fiscally responsible, people-centric party to a bloated, lumbering behemoth that infringes on people’s rights. Democrats were still largely “wealthy Liberals with questionable goals.”
I always knew that some super-bug would come along and wipe out the human race, but I never would have suspected that it would be – of all diseases – gonorrhea. I nearly choked on my orange juice reading the headline.
