First off, they are kinda hidden under my posts. They aren’t as open as most blogs are. This relates back to my choice of WP format, but I’m not about to change how my blog looks to display more comments. I like my format, damn it.
Second, I have two options – let the comments automatically show up, or set them for approval. I didn’t have it set to approval before, and I had a headache fighting a flame war. Plus, there were a few instances of hate speech. I dislike hate speech and flame wars. This is my blog. So I went the way of limited free speech and started approving them, which is a whole separate headache. I have to read each one and click whether or not to display them. Which means I have to read spam as well.
Lastly, the way I have to approve/disapprove comments sucks. It’s not as simple as “Approval all these I’ve checked.” It’s more like, “Approve this one (click), and this one (click), and this one (click) …” I can mass delete them, which is easier. Which is what I do more often than not. Because I can’t be bothered to get stirred up by stupid comments.
So if I just POST your comments in an entry rather than APPROVE your comment, there’s a reason. Because it’s easier to copy and paste ones I like than approve and disapprove a ton of comments.
Just a forewarning.
