Those goofy bunch of reprobates – Anonymous – attempted to attack Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, the Swiss bank that suspended Assange’s personal finances account and the Swedish prosecutor’s site. This is all in defense of WikiLeaks. Of course, they only got the weakest link in the group – Mastercard. Paypal, Visa and the Swiss bank easily side-stepped Anon’s attacks on their sites with the massive redundancy they employ for such events (I know about Visa, because I used to work for their providers). I haven’t heard if the Swedish prosecutor’s site was down or not.
On top of that, Anon is also trying to elicit the official names and personal information of the women pressing charges against Assange, so they can put pressure on the women and ruin their lives. Which is one reason I fucking dislike Anonymous so much – for all their bluster about doing good for the Internet, they are vindictive, needy little attention whores. 4chan’s /b/ group is usually more mature than Anon – that should tell you something.
I do know that a few agencies went into info collection mode when the DoS attacks began, and they are prepared to use that personal info to go after individuals and ISPs they believe are associated with Anonymous. I don’t know who, where or when, or what, these people are prepared to do. But Anon wanted a cyberwar, so they’re going to get one. Complete with possible physical military assets getting involved.
